“By layering behavior, context and emotion activities together, you can develop a deep understanding of consumer experiences—the kind of understanding that can move a business forward.”
How We Got Here.
Revelation grew out of a fascination with harnessing technology to make it easier to understand people. Founder Steve August first began applying web technology to contextual qualitative research as a partner in KDA Research in 2002. Fast-forward to 2007: Revelation, Inc. is born, giving online research the agile platform it needs to deliver in-depth, in-the-moment interaction.
Now Revelation’s Immersive Research™ solutions fuse today’s technology with proven traditional research methods to create engaging research activities that provide a 360-degree view of consumer experiences. We offer qual apps with support for 20 languages and research around the world.
Where We’re Going.
Our mission to make human experiences easier to access and understand is taking online qualitative research to whole new level. We are constantly looking at ways to push the boundaries of technology and methodology. We’re exploring how mobile communities can create seamless experiences across devices, new ways to visualize information, and new, dynamic ways of engaging consumers.

Revelation founder and CEO. Researcher. Entrepreneur.
Behind the titles you’ll find someone who’s fascinated with design, technology and smart methodology—and how they can be fused to get to the heart of everyday moments that reveal people’s emotions and behaviors. In his several lives before Revelation, Steve turned his hand to video documentaries, business intelligence consulting, and songwriting, including several TV credits. In fair weather, Steve can be found plying the local waters of the Portland, OR area in sailboats of various sizes.
